Daniel Asimus, MD, MSED | Psychiatrist
My favorite little book as I grew up was Doctor Dan the Bandage Man. My Mom read it to me over and over. My Mom expected me to become a priest. But, around age 13, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I was on my way. I loved learning about the body, how it works, and what we can do to help. I worked during pre-med college in a hospital lab at nights and weekends. While in Medical School I worked at nights helping surgeons perform emergency surgeries. I became very good at diagnosis, knowing the body inside and out, and in tying knots. Then I took my rotation in psychiatry and learned to listen to my patients. They shared their physical, emotional, and situational problems and stories. I loved listening, combining my medical, psychological, and inspirational knowledge and skills. I loved working with kids, teens, and adults. I was hooked.
Following my psychiatric training at the University of Southern California, I realized that I also wanted to teach medicine and psychiatry. I then completed my Master’s Degree in Medical Education from USC. I realized all my life that health and happiness depended on our self-love and care, that this involved the triad of body, mind, and spirit, and that how we chose to live, our lifestyle, makes all the difference.
I became Board Certified in Psychiatry, Neurology, and Integrative Holistic Medicine. I founded the Life Fitness Center medical group in 1984. We are a dedicated team of health care professionals working together for our patients. We have offices in Pasadena and on Maui, Hawaii. I serve as Vice President and on the Board of Directors of the international Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. I love to help the patients who put their trust in us and I combine various effective safe methods to help them feel better, solve their problems, and stay well.
My delightful wife, Cheri Ewing PhD, and I have four terrific children and we live and work in Pasadena and on Maui. We enjoy exercise, paddle boarding, travel, our granddaughter, and outdoors whenever we get the chance.
